What things astronauts do in their free time?
In their free time, astronauts engage in a variety of activities to relax and stay mentally and physically fit while aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Some of these activities include:
Exercise: Astronauts spend about two hours per day exercising to combat muscle and bone loss caused by microgravity. They use specially designed equipment like treadmills, stationary bikes, and resistance devices.
Personal Communication: Astronauts have the opportunity to communicate with their families and friends via email and video calls using internet-based technologies. They can also share updates on social media platforms.
Hobbies: Astronauts can pursue their hobbies while in space. They can read books, play musical instruments, draw, paint, or work on personal projects.
Photography: Astronauts capture stunning photographs of Earth from space. They use specialized equipment to capture the unique perspective of our planet.
Entertainment: Astronauts can watch movies, listen to music, or play video games on laptops or portable devices.
Science Experiments: Astronauts participate in various scientific experiments, which may involve conducting research on plants, animals, materials, and other aspects of life in space.
Earth Observation: Astronauts have the opportunity to observe and photograph unique geographical features, weather phenomena, and human-made structures on Earth.
Stargazing: Astronauts can observe stars, planets, and other celestial objects from space. They often document their observations and share them with scientists and astronomy enthusiasts.
It is important to note that while astronauts have some free time, their schedule on the ISS is still very structured, with specific tasks and responsibilities that require their attention.
