"A stationmaster has a charming daughter named Dunya. The narrator, passing by, stops at the station and meets the stationmaster and his daughter. The stationmaster became seriously ill, and after recovering a little, he went to look for his daughter. He found the hussar and kept track of him, finding out where Dunya lives. The hussar offered to bring her back, but she decided not to return. A few years later, the narrator again stops at the station and finds out that the stationmaster became a drunkard and died."
