Here’s a simple and engaging monologue in English about New Year for a 5th grader:

Hello everyone!

Today, I'm excited to talk to you about New Year! It's one of my favorite celebrations of the year! New Year, also called New Year's Day, is celebrated on January 1st, marking the beginning of a new year on the calendar.

As we get closer to New Year's Eve, people start preparing for the big night. Some of my favorite activities include decorating the house with colorful lights and putting up a beautiful Christmas tree. People also love to gather with family and friends to share a delicious meal. You can find lots of tasty foods like special cakes and snacks at parties.

One awesome tradition is counting down to midnight! We all gather together and say, “10, 9, 8...,” and when the clock strikes twelve, we cheer and wish each other a Happy New Year! Some people even set off fireworks to make the night more exciting. The bright lights and loud sounds are so much fun!

Another important part of New Year is making resolutions. A resolution is a promise to yourself to try to do something better in the new year. For example, I could promise to read more books or to help my parents more around the house. It’s a great way to think about how we can improve and grow!

In many cultures around the world, people have their own unique ways of celebrating. Some countries have special foods they eat to bring good luck, while others have different traditions that may involve dancing or singing.

In conclusion, New Year is a joyful time filled with hope and new beginnings. It's the perfect opportunity to reflect on the past year and dream about the future. I hope you all have a fantastic New Year filled with happiness and success!

Thank you for listening!
