Ex. 7. (*) Read the text and replace the underlined words with the phrasal verb "to get", don't forget to use the necessary tense form ofit (to get - got - got). A terrible week starts on Monday On Monday morning John overslept and rose from bed at half past nine. He hurriedly brushed his teeth, dressed, and rushed out of the house without having breakfast. When he entered his car he couldn't start the engine. The car was broken. He had nothing to do with it, but to go to a bus stop. The bus arrived overcrowded, so John couldn't manage to step onto a bus. So, he decided to take a taxi. When he finally got to work, his boss had already returned from his vacation and all his colleagues met in a conference hall waiting for him. They looked at him angrily as if they were going to take revenge at him for something. "It's just Monday. What's next?" - John thought.

Чтобы выполнить задание, давайте заменим подчеркнутые слова в тексте на фразовый глагол "to get", используя соответствующую временную форму. Запомните, что "to get" имеет три основные формы: "get" (настоящее время), "got" (прошедшее время) и "got" (прошедшее причастие).

Теперь разберем текст и проведем замены:

  1. з rose from bedgot out of bed
  2. luckily arrivedgot to work
  3. couldn't manage to step onto a buscouldn't get on the bus
  4. finally arrivedfinally got to work

Теперь заменим эти фразы в оригинальном тексте:

Заменённый текст:
A terrible week starts on Monday
On Monday morning John overslept and got out of bed at half past nine. He hurriedly brushed his teeth, dressed, and rushed out of the house without having breakfast. When he entered his car he couldn't start the engine. The car was broken. He had nothing to do with it, but to go to a bus stop. The bus couldn't get on because it arrived overcrowded, so John decided to take a taxi.
When he finally got to work, his boss had already returned from his vacation and all his colleagues met in a conference hall waiting for him. They looked at him angrily as if they were going to take revenge at him for something. "It's just Monday. What's next?" - John thought.

Теперь текст звучит с использованием фразового глагола "to get". Если у вас есть дополнительные вопросы или задания, пожалуйста, отправьте их!
