Checkers (Draughts)

Number of Players:
Checkers is typically played by two players.

Objective of the Game:
The objective of the game is to capture all of your opponent's pieces or to block them so they cannot make any moves.

How to Play:

  1. Setup:

    • The game is played on an 8x8 square board. Each player starts with 12 pieces, placed on the dark squares of the three rows closest to them.
  2. Movement:

    • Players take turns moving their pieces.
    • A piece can move diagonally forward to an adjacent unoccupied dark square.
    • If an opponent's piece occupies a diagonal square next to your piece, and there is an empty square immediately beyond it, you can jump over the opponent's piece to capture it. The jumped piece is then removed from the board.
  3. King Pieces:

    • When a piece reaches the last row on the opponent's side of the board, it is crowned and becomes a "king." Kings can move both forward and backward diagonally, which gives them more mobility.
  4. Winning the Game:

    • The game ends when one player captures all of the opponent's pieces or blocks them so they cannot make any legal moves. The player who captures all the pieces or leaves the opponent without moves wins the game.
  5. Strategy:

    • Players should try to control the center of the board, protect their pieces, and create opportunities to capture their opponent’s pieces.

Summary:

In summary, checkers is a strategic board game for two players that involves moving pieces diagonally and capturing the opponent's pieces. The first player to eliminate all the opponent's pieces or block their moves wins the game.
