I guess it was the 20.___________ (FIVE) solo trip in my life. I had already been on several backpacking tours to European and Asian countries. That's why I thought I was ready for all kinds of unexpected events. That time, I had been travelling in Europe for about two months when I 21.___________ (REACH) Naples.  Everywhere I 22.___________ (GO) before, I was able to pay for the local bus after getting on it. In Naples, I showed the driver my money and shrugged my shoulders to show that I 23.___________ (BE) unsure how and where to pay.  The driver smiled, closed the door behind 24.___________ (I), and… called the police on me for "trying to ride the bus without paying." Apparently, it was a common tourist scam, and the locals knew about it. Some Italian 25.___________ (WOMAN) stood up and screamed at the policeman for arresting me when I was clearly trying to pay for my ride. "She 26.___________ (DO) it, just give her time!" were their words (or at least that was what I could get with my poor Italian). Finally, I paid a $100 fine because I was too scared to argue. If I could go back in time, I would have studied more about public transport rules and common scams before visiting a new place. It is especially important in places like Naples, which 27.___________ (BE) famous for being one of the 28.___________ (BEAUTIFUL) but corrupted Italian cities.

    20th (twentieth).

  2. 21.___________ (REACH)
    reached.

  3. 22.___________ (GO)
    went.

  4. 23.___________ (BE)
    was.

  5. 24.___________ (I)
    me.

  6. 25.___________ (WOMAN)
    women.

  7. 26.___________ (DO)
    did.

  8. 27.___________ (BE)
    is.

  9. 28.___________ (BEAUTIFUL)
    most beautiful.

I guess it was the 20th solo trip in my life. I had already been on several backpacking tours to European and Asian countries. That's why I thought I was ready for all kinds of unexpected events. That time, I had been travelling in Europe for about two months when I reached Naples.
Everywhere I went before, I was able to pay for the local bus after getting on it. In Naples, I showed the driver my money and shrugged my shoulders to show that I was unsure how and where to pay.
The driver smiled, closed the door behind me, and… called the police on me for "trying to ride the bus without paying." Apparently, it was a common tourist scam, and the locals knew about it. Some Italian women stood up and screamed at the policeman for arresting me when I was clearly trying to pay for my ride. "She did it, just give her time!" were their words (or at least that was what I could get with my poor Italian). Finally, I paid a $100 fine because I was too scared to argue.
If I could go back in time, I would have studied more about public transport rules and common scams before visiting a new place. It is especially important in places like Naples, which is famous for being one of the most beautiful but corrupted Italian cities.
