The hotel was under construction, and loud noises filled the air, making it impossible to relax. The promised ocean view turned out to be obstructed by scaffolding. On the second day, I fell ill with food poisoning after eating at the hotel restaurant. The next 48 hours were spent in a struggle between the bathroom and my bed. I missed all planned activities, including a snorkeling trip, which was the highlight of the trip for me. As if that wasn't enough, during my recovery, a tropical storm hit the area. Our planned beach days turned into indoor confinement as the rain poured relentlessly outside. We were stuck in our tiny hotel room with limited entertainment options. By the time the storm passed and I felt well enough to leave the room, we realized that our flight home was canceled due to the weather. We had to extend our stay and scramble to find a new flight on a budget, which led to additional stress and expenses. This vacation taught me that sometimes, despite our best efforts to plan a perfect getaway, things can go awry. While it was filled with unfortunate events, it also provided me with stories to tell, and a lesson in resilience. I promised myself that next time, I would choose a destination that guarantees comfort and fun, ensuring that my next vacation would be a much better experience.
