Animals and Plants As scientists say, an animal is any living thing (including people) that is not a plant. No one knows how many different species of wild plants and animals there are on our planet. People discover hundreds of new kinds every year. In what way are animals different from plants? This question is not always easy to answer. Animals and plants get their food differently: animals eat plants or other animals, while plants get their food from the air and soil with the help of their leaves and roots. But we know that some plants catch and "eat" insects. Also animals can move about while plants grow in the same place but there are some plants that can travel and some animals that never leave their place. As you see plants and animals have very much in common. There are more than 3000 000 different species of plants on earth. Some plants grow very tall and live a very long life. Other plants are so tiny that you can see them only through a microscope. The same is true about animals. You can find plants and animals in the oceans and deserts, in mountains and in cold tundra plains. When people first learned to cultivate plants and domesticate animals, our civilization began. We can't live without them. Plants are able to use sunlight to build themselves up. They use carbon dioxide and "breathe out" life-giving oxygen. They support life on the planet.

A: Привет!

A: Верно!

A: Интересно!

Sure! Let's create the dialogue in English based on the questions about the text on animals and plants.

Questions for the Dialogue:

  1. What do you think is the main difference between animals and plants?
  2. Why is it difficult for scientists to determine the total number of species of plants and animals on Earth?
  3. How do plants obtain their food?
  4. Can some plants "eat" animals?
  5. In what places can we find plants and animals?
  6. What importance do plants and domesticated animals have for humans?

Dialogue:

A: Hi! What do you think is the main difference between animals and plants?
B: Hi! I believe the main difference is in how they obtain food. Animals eat plants or other animals, while plants get their food from the air and soil.

A: That's true! Why do you think it’s difficult for scientists to determine the total number of species of plants and animals on Earth?
B: They discover new species every year, and there are many places that are still unexplored. Additionally, some species may be very small or hard to find.

A: Interesting! How do plants obtain their food?
B: Plants use their leaves for photosynthesis, absorbing carbon dioxide and using sunlight to create food.

A: Can some plants "eat" animals?
B: Yes, for example, plants like the Venus flytrap catch insects and absorb them for nutrients.

A: In what places can we find plants and animals?
B: We can find them in oceans, deserts, mountains, and even in cold tundras.

A: What importance do plants and domesticated animals have for humans?
B: Plants and animals are essential for our survival. Plants provide us with oxygen, while domesticated animals assist in agriculture and become our companions.

A: Thank you for the interesting conversation!
B: You’re welcome! I enjoyed discussing this too!

This dialogue effectively summarizes the key points of the text while providing clarity on the relationship between animals and plants.
