The government has invested heavily into the project, so the drinking water is taken from the resources which are about 130 miles away from the city.New Yorkers can pour the water from their taps and drink it. And what about you? What are the ways of making sure that your water is safe to drink? And what do you do to get clean water?First of all, the quality of drinking water depends on the source, since some types of water require more intensive filtration than others. In the majority of states in the USA running water is quite safe to drink, and one is unlikely to contract an infectious disease. But things do happen after all and in some cases contaminants and bacteria are still found in running water. There are a number of special organisations and agencies which require all water suppliers to issue annual reports for their customers. But these reports can tell you only about the quality of water which gets to your house. Much depends on the quality and condition of the pipe systems of the building you live in. Even in newer buildings, as plumbers say, the pipes may be quite dirty and rusty. If you have doubts you may consult specialists and ask them to run necessary tests on your water samples. Many people prefer filtered or bottled water because they do not like the chlorine taste in city water (since there are a number of disinfectants to make water safe). You may freeze water in the fridge and the chlorine will dissipate in half an hour. Installing a filtration system attached to your water tap is a more expensive though effective solution. There are also special carbon filters to be set up under the sink, but they have to be replaced regularly, The cost of the most expensive whole-house filtering systems reaches $1.000 and you have to pay the monthly service fee of about $20. People often don't think much about the quality of the water they drink, and replacing oil filters in their car is more regular and more important for them than Тест 2 replacing a water filter at home. If you don't replace the water filter on schedule, it accumulates bacteria and becomes even more dangerous for your health. Bottled water has gained popularity over the past years. In fact about 25 per cent of bottled water is simply purified tap water. No matter where you get your drinking water from, you have to be aware of its quality because it influences your health directly. 2 Water in New York is extracted from great depths. 2) False 3) Not stated 1) True Ответ: 3 New Yorkers were not satisfied with the quality of water and raised money for the project. 1) True 2) False 3) Not stated Ответ: 4 The quality of drinking water is equally perfect in all the states. 2) False 3) Not stated 1) True Ответ: 5 The purity of water depends on the pipes in the house. 2) False 3) Not stated 1) True Ответ: 6 Bottled water is always natural and extracted from deep wells. 2) False 3) Not stated 1) True Ответ: Some people pay more attention to oil filters in their car than to water filters at home. 2) False 3) Not stated 1) True Ответ:
