Reading 5 Read the text. Then decide if the statements below are true (T) or false (F). My family and I have just moved house, so I've had to change schools. My old school was called Apple Tree College and was very small and friendly, but my new school is much bigger and much stricter than my old one. It's called Hangham High, and it's got more rules than the government! For example, at Apple Tree College we could wear what we wanted, but at Hangham High we have to wear a really horrible school uniform. And if you don't wear it correctly, you get into trouble. When we walk round the school we mustn't run or shout, and we have to stay on the left side of the corridor so that other people can walk past us in the opposite direction. Obviously, we weren't allowed to run or shout at my old school, but we could walk along the corridor any way we wanted. I think it's crazy that we have to walk on the left, even when there's nobody else in the corridor! Another thing that is very annoying is the rule that we have to carry our bags at our sides in school. We can't put them on our backs. Sometimes our bags are really heavy, so it's awful when you have to carry them. Of course, some rules are good. We mustn't drop litter, we can't smoke, and we have to arrive before 8.35 in the morning. If you're late, you have to sign the 'late register', and if you sign it three times the school sends a letter to your parents. a Hangham High has got more rules than Apple Tree College. T/F b Students have to wear a school uniform at Apple Tree College. T/F c Students mustn't shout in the corridor at Apple Tree College. T/F d You can't take your bag inside the school at Hangham High. T/F e If you're late twice, Hangham High will send a letter to your parents. T/F
