Mikhail Lomonosov Mikhail Lomonosov was born in 1711 into a wealthy family in the northern coastal village of Denisovka not far from Archangelsk. From an early age, he loved going out to sea with his father. These voyages influenced the young Lomonosov's ideas about the beauty of nature and sharpened his character. He came on foot to Moscow where he entered the Slavic-Greek-Latin Academy. Lomonosov's life there was very difficult and poor.
