In 1985, British musician Clive Waring woke up unable to remember anything, not even the name of his wife. His wife Deborah immediately called a doctor, and later that night, he was found on the street by a taxi driver and taken to hospital. Doctors diagnosed a dangerous virus, and it was said that he might never recover. However, he did recover physically, but his mental state remained unchanged — he had a short-term memory of less than 30 seconds. He could only remember that he loved his wife. Every time Deborah left and returned, Clive believed he was seeing her for the first time in the day.
He spent seven years in a psychiatric hospital, after which he was transferred to a brain injury ward. Nevertheless, the amnesia persisted. He divorced, and his wife started a new life. However, after nine years, she contacted him again and proposed to remarry, although he did not remember their past marriage. He agreed to remarry without recalling their history.
