Choosing a career is a difficult and demanding decision which will influence your future life. Some people dream of a challenging and creative job, others prefer a safe and secure one. Everyone would like to have a rewarding occupation, but they have different ideas of it: a well-paid and prestigious position, a job which is of use to other people or the one that is full of vivid communication. You have to find a perfect match between your personality, interests and skills. Most people make up their mind when they are mature enough, others feel an inclination to some occupation since childhood. You can ask your parents, friends and teachers for advice or turn to occupational consultants. You can go to college or university or learn a trade and look for a job. You also should consider the demand for a particular career in the labour market so that you could easily find a job in the future and earn enough money for a decent life. The modern professional world is divided into four main areas: People, Procedures and Systems, Communications and Arts, Science and Engineering. To work in the area of People you have to be caring (doctor, nurse, teacher) or influencing people (the armed forces, police), understanding, emotionally strong and sociable. You need to have interpersonal and managerial skills. However, if you prefer being involved in the sphere of Procedures and Systems (secretary, solicitor, librarian, office manager) you should be patient with details, punctual and well-organised. Mathematical and computer skills may be helpful. As regards the field of Communications and Arts (journalist, public relations officer, designer, architect, translator, photographer), it requires language and artistic skills and rich imagination. In case you would like to choose Science and Engineering (biologist, physicist, chemist, engineer, mechanic), you have to develop a keen and logical mind, to be inventive and analytical. Naturally, there are qualities necessary for all kind of work: honesty, responsibility, self-confidence etc. Computer and language skills seem to be helpful in all professions. In addition, to make the adequate choice you ought to consider your strong) and weak points. Are you helpful, competitive, energetic, self-confident, reliable etc.? Are you forgetful, indecisive, irresponsible, lazy, careless? Have you made up your mind about your future occupation? What working conditions do you expect to have? Do you prefer working indoors or outdoors? Would you like to work regular or irregular hours? Are you ready to face possible dangers? Is it good to get a bonus for efficient or extra work? Remember to say: · what job and education opportunities young people have after finishing the 9th form · what job you would like to do in the future, explain your choice · what advice your parents have given you about your career choice • What your attitude to choosing a profession is You have to talk continuously. 10 предложений

Choosing a career is a very important decision that can affect my entire future. After finishing the 9th form, young people usually have the opportunity to continue their education at college or university or to learn a trade and start working. I believe it’s essential to consider my interests, skills, and personality when choosing a job. Personally, I would like to become an engineer because I enjoy solving problems and working with technology. My parents advise me to choose a profession that is in demand and offers good career prospects. They say I should also think about my working conditions, like whether I prefer working indoors or outdoors and if I am ready for the challenges of a demanding job. I think having a balanced attitude is important; I should be realistic about my strong and weak points. I believe that choosing the right career requires careful planning and self-awareness. Ultimately, I want to find a profession that I will enjoy and that will help me have a successful and fulfilling life.
