I've known my friend, David, for a long time. We did everything together we went to school together, played football together and even ate lunch together. But one day something strange happened. David suddenly decided he didn't want to play computer games anymore. He said they were a waste of time and that he wanted to do something useful with his life. I thought he was crazy. At first, David started doing little things around the house. He helped his mum with the washing up and took out the rubbish. Then, one day, he told me he was going to stop eating meat because he didn't want to kill animals. I thought this was really weird, but I didn't say anything. After a while, I got used to it. His mum cooked him special meals and he always brought a packed lunch to school. Then he started asking his friends not to eat meat either. Some people listened to him, but most just laughed. A few months later, David's dad bought a new car. It was huge! David was very angry. He said cars were bad for the environment and that his dad should have bought a bicycle. He decided that he wasn't going to use his dad's car anymore. Instead, he walked or rode his bike everywhere. Every week, he wrote letters to the local newspaper about how bad cars were and what people could do to help the planet. Nobody read them, but he didn't care. One year on, David is still as passionate as ever about saving the planet. He's joined an environmental group and goes to meetings every week. He's also planted a vegetable garden in his backyard and only eats food that he's grown himself. Last month, he organised a protest against plastic bags in our town. Over 100 people came! I'm really proud of him. He might be a bit extreme sometimes, but he's definitely made a difference. I just hope he doesn't try to make me give up meat! 9.2.

  1. The author has known David since a very young age.
В тексте говорится: "I've known my friend, David, for a long time."

  2. David stopped playing computer games.
David suddenly decided he didn't want to play computer games anymore."

  3. David assisted his mother with household chores.
He helped his mum with the washing up and took out the rubbish."

  4. David bought his lunch in the canteen.
He always brought a packed lunch to school."

  5. David was excited about his dad's purchase.

  6. David took part in an international environmental project.
Поэтому — not stated.

  7. David is less passionate about saving the planet now.
