The Most Popular Summer Activities
Summer slid in with long days, warm breezes, and the familiar smell of sunscreen. In our town, the most popular summer activities are easy to name: swimming, hiking, biking, camping, and sunny picnics by the lake. My pal Sam and I decided to try them all in one weekend, so we rented a small camper and hit the road.
The first morning we went to the lake. We swam, built a quick sandcastle, and laughed as the water cooled our toes. Then we hiked a narrow trail through pine trees, stopping at a lookout to admire the valley below. After lunch we rented bicycles and rode along a lakefront path, chatting and stopping for lemonade at a tiny cafe.
Evenings were simple: we cooked on a portable stove beside the camper, told stories, and watched the fire dance. I took a selfie to remember the moment, and a quick snap of the stars followed when darkness settled in. The night smelled of pine and smoke, and our pal's smile glowed in the firelight.
If someone asked me to describe the trip in one word, I would say it captured the spirit of summer—water, hills, wheels, and friendship, all at once.
