Dear Alex,
Your message made me think about climbing and safety. To answer your three questions:
I haven’t done real rock climbing yet. I’ve tried indoor bouldering a couple of times and liked the challenge. I’d like to try outdoor climbing someday, maybe with a guide.
Are such sports dangerous? They can be risky, but most accidents come from poor planning or faulty gear. With proper training, certified instructors, helmets, harnesses, ropes, and a trusted belayer, the risks are much lower.
Outdoor sports I’d recommend for someone who doesn’t want something too bold: easy hikes, cycling on flat trails, stand-up paddleboarding on calm water, kayaking on a sheltered lake, or orienteering.
Best wishes, Sam
