We are looking for stories for our teenage English-speaking on-line magazine. On a rainy Tuesday at 5:07 p.m., Maya and her best friend Luca wandered through Willow City after school, puddles turning sidewalks into mirrors.
The scene in the photo shows a map tacked to a brick wall, a flickering neon sign blurred by rain, two teens leaning in with held breath. The memory returns as the two follow a dusty flyer that promises a midnight scavenger hunt across the city.
“Are we crazy enough to try this?” Maya asks. “Only if we're together,” Luca replies, grinning.
They dash through rain-soaked alleys, the wind tugging at their hoodies, thunder muttering overhead. They dodge a sleepy security guard, laugh when a stray dog scampers past, and finally reach the old clock tower where the final clue glows on a brass plate.
A wooden box opens to reveal a note: “The real treasure isn't gold, it's the courage to chase the unknown.” They smile, soaked and triumphant.
