Dear friend, Great to hear you started a historic novel yesterday. I’ve just finished a stretch of novels myself. I usually read about 25 books a year, depending on length and how busy I am. I like historical fiction because it blends true events with compelling characters and a sense of time and place. I also enjoy science fiction and classical poetry for variety and language. At school, literature lessons usually involve reading excerpts, discussing themes and motives, and explaining the author’s purpose; we sometimes work in groups on presentations and write short responses. How many do you read?
