• So 4x = 28 → x = 7

Check: (3·7 - 1)/5 - (7 + 2)/3 = 20/5 - 9/3 = 4 - 3 = 1, which is correct.

If you instead meant the equation without fractions, 3x - 1 - x + 2 = 1, then x = 0.
