How to choose the tense

  • Present Simple — habits, routines and facts:
    often, sometimes, usually, every day
    Example: She walks to school.

  • Present Continuous — something happening now or temporarily:
    at the moment, today
    Structure: am/is/are + verb-ing
    Example: She is walking now.

  • With he/she/it in the Present Simple, add -s:
walk → walks, wear → wears.

  • In negative sentences:
    don’t/doesn’t + verb — They don’t live; he doesn’t understand.
    am not/isn’t/aren’t + verb-ing — He isn’t walking; we aren’t watching.
