Analyzing inconsistency
I'm recognizing some inconsistencies in the responses. When asked, "Is it a pen?" the expected answer is "No, it isn't a pen." However, the response hints that it isn't a rubber, which makes me think the question was likely "Is it a rubber?" It seems like they retain the predicate in their answers. There are similar formats with questions about pencils and year levels; they follow straightforward patterns, but some "No" responses seem omitted.
10. Write the questions
- Are you new to the school? No, I’m not.
- Is it a rubber? No, it isn’t a rubber.
- Are you twelve? Yes, I’m twelve.
- Are they pencils? No, they aren’t pencils.
- Are you in Year seven? Yes, we’re in Year seven.
- Is he her friend? He isn’t her friend, he is my friend.
Принцип: в вопросах с глаголом to be глагол ставится перед подлежащим:
- It is → Is it?
- They are → Are they?
- He is → Is he?
- You are → Are you?
Проверка: формы is/are в вопросах согласуются с подлежащим: it/he — is, you/they — are.
