Краткий пересказ на английском
Hogmanay
Hogmanay is the Scottish celebration of New Year’s Eve. The word Hogmanay means “new morning” in Celtic. It is one of the most exciting celebrations of the year.
Preparations begin early on 31st December. People clean their houses and throw away old unwanted things. They also bake shortbread biscuits and a rich fruit cake called Black Bun.
On Hogmanay night, there are live concerts and colourful carnivals in the streets. People wear costumes and watch torchlight processions. When the bells chime, they kiss and wish each other a Happy New Year. Then they join hands and sing Auld Lang Syne. After that, they enjoy a spectacular firework display.
On 1st January, people visit their friends and neighbours and wish them luck. Hogmanay is a joyful celebration because people spend time with their family and friends and hope for a successful year.
