Key rules and checks
- Past Simple: regular verbs usually take -ed: play → played. Irregular verbs change form: write → wrote, come → came.
- Used to describes a past habit or state:
- affirmative: used to + verb;
- negative: didn’t use to + verb;
- question: Did + subject + use to + verb?
- After means “later than”; until means “up to the time when”; as soon as means “immediately when”; then shows the next action.
- Task 3 is checked by the plot: the characters enter a volcano, find an underground sea and finally escape, so statement 5 is false.
- In Task 7, every word from the box is used exactly once.
