I would tell my family three facts about Remembrance Day:
- Remembrance Day is celebrated on 11 November to remember people who died in wars.
- The red poppy is the symbol of this day because poppies grew on the battlefields after World War I.
- At 11 a.m. on Remembrance Sunday, people observe a two-minute silence and veterans lay wreaths at war memorials.

Victory Day in Russia
In Russia, Victory Day is a special day to remember war veterans. It is celebrated on 9 May. It marks the victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War and honours the soldiers who fought and died for their country. People also remember the veterans who are still alive.
In the morning, military parades take place in Moscow and other cities. People lay flowers and wreaths at war memorials and at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. There is a minute of silence, as well as concerts and meetings with veterans. Families watch the parade, visit cemeteries and talk about their relatives who fought in the war. Some people wear St George’s ribbons and carry portraits of their relatives in the Immortal Regiment procession. In the evening, there are usually fireworks.
Victory Day is important because it helps us remember the courage and sacrifice of veterans and understand the value of peace.
