Types and Causes of Conflict

There are three common types of conflict:

• Internal conflict — inside a person, caused by difficult or opposite feelings.
• Interpersonal conflict — between people, caused by different opinions, misunderstandings, jealousy or hurt feelings.
• Group conflict — between groups, caused by competition, unfairness or different goals.

Poor communication and anger can make any conflict worse. To solve a conflict, people should stay calm, listen to each other and be ready to compromise.
