Правильное написание имени: Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa.

Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa

Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa (63–12 BCE) was a Roman general, statesman, architect and politician. He was a close friend, trusted commander and son-in-law of Octavian, who later became the Roman emperor Augustus.

Agrippa played an important role in the rise of Augustus. In 36 BCE, he defeated Sextus Pompey in the naval Battle of Naulochus. His greatest victory came in 31 BCE at the Battle of Actium, where the fleet of Octavian defeated Mark Antony and Cleopatra. This victory helped Octavian become the most powerful ruler in Rome.

Agrippa was also an excellent administrator and builder. He improved the streets, roads and public buildings of Rome. He constructed the Aqua Virgo, an important aqueduct that supplied the city with water. He also commissioned the first version of the Pantheon. The building that can be seen today was rebuilt later, but it still carries the inscription connecting it with Agrippa.

Agrippa married Julia, the daughter of Augustus. They had several children, and their descendants became important members of the Roman imperial family. Agrippa died in 12 BCE. Augustus greatly mourned his death.

Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa was one of the most important people in Roman history. Although he was not an emperor, his military victories, political work and building projects helped create the Roman Empire.
