A Letter from the 19th Century
15 October 1851
My dear sister,
I hope this letter finds you well. Life in London is busy and exciting, although I often miss our quiet home in Yorkshire. Every morning I walk to the railway station, where new trains arrive from distant towns. People say that railways will change the whole country, and I believe them. Last Sunday, I visited the Crystal Palace exhibition and saw wonderful machines, paintings, and inventions. In the evening, I read your kind letter by candlelight and felt very happy. Please tell Mother that I am working hard and saving money. I hope to visit you at Christmas.
With love,
Edward
