Главное здесь — глаголы с предлогом: laugh at, speak to, look after, live in, send for, think about, operate on, ask for, look for, sleep in, listen to, speak about.
Схема пассива:
подлежащее + be (в нужном времени) + V3 + предлог
Предлог остаётся после глагола, а не отделяется от него:
- The senior students laughed at the freshman.
→ The freshman was laughed at. - They looked for the newspaper everywhere.
→ The newspaper was looked for everywhere.
Время показывает глагол be:
- прошлое: was / were;
- будущее: will be;
- настоящее: is / are.
Если в активном предложении стоит nobody, в пассиве удобнее сделать отрицание:
- Nobody lived in that old house.
→ That old house was not lived in. - Nobody slept in the bed.
→ The bed was not slept in.
Исполнителя действия можно добавить в конце через by, но обычно он опускается, если неважен:
The freshman was laughed at by the senior students.
