Nouns from adjectives: the sentence usually needs a noun after for / the / your / of or as a subject. Use the suffix that forms the correct noun:
- secret → secrecy (-cy)
- important → importance (-ance)
- kind → kindness (-ness)
- patient → patience (-ence)
- secure → security (-ity)
- active → activity (-ity)
Phrasal verbs: match each phrase to the meaning clue in brackets:
- make out = see/understand clearly → “couldn’t make out the number”
- make off with = steal and run away with → “made off with our TV”
- make up for = compensate for → “make up for breaking her vase”
- make up = invent → “making up stories”
- make of = think about / have an opinion about → “What do you make of Steve’s idea?”
Check: each phrase is used once, and each completed sentence sounds natural: secrecy between friends, importance of recycling, kindness during my stay, patience to work with children, security system, physical activity.
