Как понять принцип

• in ставится с годом, месяцем, сезоном: in 1996, in October.
• on ставится с конкретной датой и днём: on 15th October, on Monday.
• on Monday morning — потому что это конкретное утро конкретного дня. Сравни: in the morning, но on Monday morning.
• Перед this / next / last + время предлог не нужен: this Friday, last year.

Дата произносится по модели:

the + порядковое числительное + of + месяц

Например: 3 April → the third of April.

Порядковые числительные образуются так: 1 — first, 2 — second, 3 — third, дальше обычно добавляется -th. В составных числах меняется только последняя часть: 21 — twenty-first, 22 — twenty-second, 23 — twenty-third, 30 — thirtieth.
