Почему так: это биография, поэтому основа текста — Past Simple.
Past Perfect (had + V3) нужен, когда действие произошло раньше другого: by the age of eighteen … had already become; the farm that she had organized; a woman had never been… before.
Passive Voice — когда действие совершается над человеком: She was respected …; They were killed…

Проверка: в № 5, 11, 12 — Past Perfect; в № 14, 17 — пассив. Всё остальное — прошедшее простое время.

4. b) Answer the questions

1. What is Urkuya Salieva famous for?
She is famous as a symbol of the women’s rights movement in Kyrgyzstan and as the first woman to become chairperson of a collective farm. She fought for freedom and women’s rights.

2. Why do you think she has become a symbol of the women’s rights movement?
I think she has become a symbol because she proved that women should have a say. At a time when women had no rights, she organized a collective farm and became its head. Her example showed that women could be leaders.

3. What other outstanding women in Kyrgyz history do you know? What are they famous for?
I know Kurmanjan Datka and Rosa Otunbayeva. Kurmanjan Datka is a national heroine, famous for her wisdom and courage and for defending her people. Rosa Otunbayeva is famous as the first woman president of Kyrgyzstan and as a diplomat.

Принцип: смотри на слово-маркер. While обычно требует Past Continuous, Recently — Present Perfect, Now — Present Continuous, а после After finishing идёт существительное или герундий.

My partner, [Name], was born in [city/village] in [year]. As a child, he dreamt of becoming a [job], and at the age of seven he started going to a sports club. While he was studying in primary school, he became interested in English and computer games. After finishing music school, he continued playing the guitar for pleasure. As time passed, he became more confident and made many new friends. Now, in his teens, he is thinking of studying abroad or entering a medical university. Recently, he has started learning programming, and he enjoys it very much. He is hard-working and curious, and he always tries to achieve his goals. I think his story shows how early interests can help a person choose a future career.
