Как выбирать

Главное — понять, можно ли предмет посчитать:

• Исчисляемые — можно сказать one tomato, two tomatoes:
  tomatoes, eggs, sandwiches, cookies, oranges, recipes, onions, peppers.
  С ними используем many («много») и a few («несколько»).

• Неисчисляемые — нельзя посчитать поштучно:
  milk, sugar, bread, juice, food, cheese.
  С ними используем much («много») и a little («немного»).

a lot of подходит и к исчисляемым, и к неисчисляемым.
В номере 2 уже напечатано of, поэтому вставляем только a lot: a lot of tomatoes.
