  1. Yan is from China. She’s Chinese. (7 letters)
  2. Sofia is from Brazil. She’s Brazilian. (9 letters)
  3. Minatu is from Tokyo. He’s Japanese. (8 letters)
  4. Alice is from the US. She’s American. (8 letters)

  6. Lucía is from Mexico. She’s Mexican. (7 letters)
  7. Maxim is from Russia. He’s Russian. (7 letters)

How to work it out

  • After “She’s/He’s from …”, use the nationality adjective, not the country name.
  • If the sentence gives a city, first find the country:
    • Tokyo → Japan → Japanese
    • Sydney → Australia → Australian
  • The US means the United States/America, so the adjective is American.
  • Nationality words start with a capital letter in English:
    • Chinese, Brazilian, Japanese, American, Australian, Mexican, Russian

Spelling checks: Brazilian has “z”; Australian has “-tralian”; Russian has double “s”.
