Short answers to questions 1–3
- I am going to write an informal email.
- I am going to write to Jack, my English-speaking pen friend.
- My email will be about budget shopping in London for Jack’s sister: where she can go, when she should go, and what kinds of shops there are.
Model email (104 words)
Hi Jack,
Thanks a lot for your email. It was great to hear from you. I think your sister should visit Camden Market and the big Primark on Oxford Street. They are perfect for someone on a really tight budget because there are many cheap clothes, gifts and street food. She could also try charity shops, where prices are very low. She should go on weekday mornings, as weekends are usually crowded and some stalls are more expensive. There are also many small independent shops, but she should avoid expensive department stores. I hope these ideas help her. Write back soon.
Best wishes, Alex
