Как понять принцип

1. Present Simple и Present Continuous

Смотри на подсказки в предложении:

• Present Simple — привычка, факт, повторяющееся действие:
  often, usually, every day, on Wednesdays, always.
  Пример: I don't often watch films.

• Present Continuous — действие сейчас или временная ситуация:
  now, at the moment, right now.
  Пример: I am chatting with my friends at the moment.

• Глаголы состояния — like, want, think в значении «считать» — обычно не ставятся в Continuous:
  I don't like, Jake doesn't want, Do you think...?

2. Короткие ответы

В коротком ответе повторяй вспомогательный глагол, а не смысловой:

• Do you often read? — No, I don't.
• Is Jamie listening? — Yes, he is.
• Are you doing your homework? — No, I am not.

3. Формы после глаголов

• can't stand / mind + -ing:
  can't stand being late, don't mind waiting.
• offer / hope / try + to + infinitive:
  offers to pay, hoping to go, trying to listen.
• allow somebody + to do:
  allow me to stay up.

4. Фразы для предложений и договорённостей

• Shall we...? — предлагаем вместе что-то сделать.
• We could... — мягкое предложение.
• Why don't we...? — «почему бы нам не...?»
• How about...? — «как насчёт...?»
• I'd rather not — «я бы лучше не стал».
• Why not? — согласие: «почему бы и нет?»
• Let's do that — «давай так и сделаем».

Быстрая проверка

В №3 действия «сейчас» — это am chatting и isn't raining, остальные — привычки, факты или состояния.
В №4 короткие ответы совпадают по вспомогательному глаголу с вопросом.
В №2 лишнее weekend, потому что по-английски говорят at the weekend, а не in the weekend.
