Doing tasks at home also develops important skills such as time management, self-discipline and the ability to work independently. In addition, homework shows teachers and parents how well a pupil understands the topic, and it helps weaker students catch up with the class.
On the other hand, too much homework can be harmful. Pupils spend six or seven hours at school and then have to study again in the evening, which often leads to stress and fatigue. As a result, they have less time for sport, hobbies, family and sleep. Moreover, homework is not always effective: some students simply copy the answers, and the conditions at home are not equal for everyone, because not every child has a quiet room or help from parents.
Personally, I believe homework is necessary, but only in reasonable amounts. A short, well-designed task is far more useful than hours of mechanical exercises.
