1. What was the weather like? — It was a late summer day. The sun was shining lazily through the creamy clouds, and the wind was blowing. The wood was peaceful and quiet.
2. Who did he meet? — He met a large black bird, much bigger than him.
3. How did he feel after the meeting? — He felt afraid/frightened and understood that he was in danger. He wanted to run but could not move.
4. What did the strange bird look like? — It was a large black bird with a big sharp grey beak and ice-cold eyes. It was as old as the wood.
5. Why did Clumsy rush away? — Because he was in danger and very frightened. After that he did not want to play anymore.

Как понять принцип

• Вопросы стоят в Past Simple, поэтому ответы тоже строим в прошедшем времени: It was…, He met…, He felt…, It had…
• Для вопроса о погоде ищем описание в начале текста: late summer, the sun was shining, creamy clouds, the wind was blowing.
• В вопросе Who did he meet? важен персонаж: Clumsy встретил не белок, а большую чёрную птицу.
• Для чувств опираемся на слова Clumsy was afraid и He was in danger.
• Для внешности собираем прилагательные: large, black, big sharp grey beak, ice-cold eyes, as old as the wood.
• В вопросе Why…? удобно отвечать через Because + причина: Because he was in danger / frightened.
• Проверь: в каждом ответе есть подлежащее и сказуемое; для описания используем was и had.

Если в первой строке написано Lately, это слово значит «в последнее время» и не описывает погоду.
