  1. Letter to Alex (75-85 words)

Dear Alex,

I hope you’re well. I’ve just finished exams and wanted to thank you for your support this term. I did well in the final math test, and I’m joining the campus running club next week. If you’re free, let’s meet for coffee and share study tips. Also, tell me whether you’d like to visit the museum with me this weekend. Send my regards to your family. I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to.

Best wishes, [Your Name]

  1. Speaking talk about sports (2-3 minutes; script)

Today I’m going to talk about sports, including what I like and dislike, why, and what kinds I go in for.

I’m most enthusiastic about team sports—especially football (soccer) and basketball—and I also enjoy swimming. I like them because they combine physical effort with strategy and social interaction. Football makes me think on the move: passing angles, timing runs, and reading opponents. Basketball challenges my agility and coordination, while swimming gives me steady endurance and a chance to clear my head. I’m less attracted to golf; it feels slow and repetitive to me, and I prefer more fast-paced activities.

When it comes to the kind of sports I go in for, I’m mainly a team-sports person, but I also do individual workouts to balance things. With the football club I train twice a week, and matches are on weekends. I swim laps twice a week, focusing on technique, breathing, and speed. I sometimes ride my bike to campus for cardio and to save time.

Sports fit neatly into my study schedule because they boost focus and mood after long sessions. They also help me make friends and develop leadership, especially when I’m captain of a small team. Looking ahead, I’d like to try indoor basketball and possibly a local 5-a-side football tournament to push myself further.

To prepare, I do a short warm-up before drills, followed by strength work and core stability. I also focus on nutrition and sleep to maintain energy through multi-session weeks. My goals this season include improving my free kicks, diagonal runs, and defensive positioning. I even enjoy mentoring younger players and helping them learn basic drills, which reminds me why I love sport: progress, teamwork and fair play.

Thank you for listening. If you have any questions about training plans or routines, I’d be happy to answer.
