You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

The official celebration of the 8th of March as International Women's Day was established by the United Nations in 1975, on the eve of the UN Decade of Women. It was the decade from 1976 to 1985, during which two international conferences devoted to gender issues were held, and the Convention on Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women was accepted. Work on it began back in the 1960s, not least thanks to the 2nd wave of feminism.
Countries that have signed and ratified the Convention undertake to send regular reports to the UN Committee at least once every 4 years. In Russia, the last report was published in 2019. The Commission reviews the report and sends comments and recommendations to the participating country. According to a study conducted by Mail.ru, only 7% of Russians consider March 8 a day dedicated to the struggle for women's rights.
